Cooking with Essential Oils (III) …Zest it up!

Cooking with essential oils is not only tasty, but very good for you:  The Oils contained in the fresh peels of citrus contain large amounts of limonene which encourages the body’s detoxification system and enhance antioxidant activity. Full flavour, with all the healing benefits!

Your Yoga Potion Pure Citrus Potions are wonderful for adding a zing of flavour to your drink, dressing or food:

  • Use the essential oil in place of citrus zest – as a rule of thumb: 1 drop of a citrus oil can substitute for 1 tsp. of citrus zest; if the recipe calls for the zest from 1 citrus fruit, you can use 2-3 drops of the citrus essential oil instead (approx. 1. Tbsp).
  • Note: Because the essential oil of Citrus is drawn from the fresh peel, Lemon Oil Potion can be substituted in recipes for the zest, but not the juice of the fruit.

Healthy Salad Dressing

Simply wash your citrus fruit, and using a zester, grate the whole fruit – Lemon or Dark Orange is my preference – Add the zest to 1 cup olive oil and use as a dressing or by itself.

In a hurry? Just add 2 drops of Lemon Oil or Dark Orange to 1/4 cup Olive Oil mix and serve!

Using your Yoga Potion Citrus Oils in your morning breakfast…

  • Add 6-8 drops of Dark Orange into the mix for 4-6 pancakes… Sweetens up your breakfast naturally
  • Add a drop of Lemon Oil into your morning tea or espresso is a great alternative to sweetener!
